In between

In Between is a visual exploration of the fragile threshold where closeness and distance, attachment and release, intertwine – a process of emotional RESET within human relationships. This project delves into what it truly means to connect while embracing the vulnerability that genuine intimacy requires. It asks: How aware are we of our own attachment patterns? When do we dare to start over in love? And how can we reinvent ourselves when old emotional systems keep rebooting in the background? The series begins with candid conversations about attachment shared by photographed couples. Each analog portrait, captured within the intimate spaces of their homes, reflects subtle yet powerful dynamics of proximity and distance – moments when emotional systems are, metaphorically, resetting themselves. By blending documentary and staged elements, the photographer weaves a visual narrative that invites viewers to reflect on their own cycles of separation, healing, and reconnection. Born from a personal turning point – after the breakup with a partner struggling with attachment anxiety – In Between became an act of renewal. The project illuminates the inner conflicts that arise when fear meets desire, while also portraying tender moments from the artist's current, securely attached relationship. This juxtaposition highlights how stability and care can dismantle old patterns, offering a form of emotional reboot that nurtures trust and resilience. Ultimately, In Between is both a deeply personal and universal reflection on relationships as spaces of continuous transformation. It calls on us to pause, to reflect, and to embrace our own emotional RESET – to rediscover the courage to redefine intimacy, and to find ourselves again within the spaces in between connection and freedom.
